Organisations, 1890-1932.
Scope and Contents
Although Sir George was connected with a large number of organisations, only a few of them are represented in this series, either because his association with many was rather perfunctory and confined to financial patronage, or because the relevant material forms part of another series, or because he did not classify it separately. Material to do with the various organisations to which he belonged is widely distributed throughout the collection, for example in the correspondence series, in the Public Life Files, and amongst the receipts and the mementoes. Also his speeches and articles were in many cases composed for societies, and much of the printed matter in Series 9 was published by the organisations to which he belonged. Series 6 therefore represents the material that is not classified elsewhere. It consists of letters, documents, circulars, leaflets, reports, and other papers to do with seven organisations in most of which he was at some time a member of the executive.
