Although closely allied to Series 3, this group includes neither newspaper clippings nor letters, but consists only of official documents or the records of Fowlds's formal activity as a Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister. The physical types of material include legal documents, such as Fowlds's warrants of appointment as Minister; formal documents, such as Departmental returns; receipts and records of parliamentary functions; records of his private papers, his speeches and the Bills he introduced; and minutes, and memoranda about the affairs of the Ministry. The record items are arranged chronologically by years. Five of them contain finding aids to his activities and papers.
