Scope and Contents
Sir Hugh Kawharu left Massey University in 1985 to take up the position of Professor of Maori Studies and Head of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Auckland. He headed Maori Studies until his retirement in 1993 as an Emeritus Professor.
This series includes papers relating to his teaching and administrative activities as well as papers relating to the establishment of Waipapa Marae and the James Henare Research Centre.
There is some overlap between the files in this series and those of series 4 (Massey University papers).
