Travel journals and narratives
Scope and Contents
During his academic career and retirement Cumberland travelled a great deal both within New Zealand and overseas. Beginning in the 1950s Cumberland retained his tickets, itineraries and other travel ephemera, carefully arranging the collected material chronologically by decade.
Also included in this series are detailed written accounts of specific journeys by Cumberland including an account of a trip around part of the North Island of New Zealand in late 1940 which was in fact a combined field trip and honeymoon.
