Biographical / Historical
This watch song tells the tribe to be alert, watchful and prepared for action. It tells the tribe that people who are not willing or prepared to obey will find themselves smeared in blood. According to Arapeta Awatere this song does not belong to Tūhoe; he has heard it mainly used by Ngāti Raukawa in the Otaki area.
