Biographical / Historical
This song was composed as a lament for the famous warrior, Takahi, who in his day successfully fought and defended the Tūhoe territory against marauding war-parties of other tribes. Takahi claims descent from Porourangi of Ngāti Porou through Rongowhakāta, and from Tūhoepōtiki.
