Biographical / Historical

One person sings the first part while everyone pulls the kōrorohū, a whizzer, often made with a piece of board and string. At the second part everyone joins in singing. The text contains sexual references.

In his announcement to the waiata, the singer says there lived an old man of their tribe whose name was Pera, whose descendant was Ngākohu and his siters, Hauiti and Hauwaima. When he went on his buggy he would play his kōrorohū.
