Biographical / Historical
Composed in 1906-7, is addressed to the composer's dog, Pongapu, who was to be his bed-mate as his wife went off to play cards as usual. Three days later Kahukoti was found dead with the dog guarding his body. The wife, Kapu, never came back because the people of that place wouldn't let her.
