Biographical / Historical

Composed in the 1880s. At this time Ngāto Tūwharetoa teams used to come often to Moawhanga to play football against Ngāti Whititama. This song was composed by one of the visiting teams. It is asked for at tangi whenever someone referred to in the song as died, and has since been adapted by other clubs.
