Biographical / Historical
The singer explains that the matāra is a taunting chant, performed in the old days without clothes during challenge. Three sticks were laid down and one of the visitors chased the bearer of the third stick after he performed the first chant with action and then laid the stick down. Later both sides did the second chant together.
