Biographical / Historical

Te Kēhi says this poi originated when te Marakū's sisters of Ngāti Kurahui, Tūwharetoa, did not agree to the marriage of Te Marakū to Erenora as she was popular with the chiefs of every tribe. So the family of Erenora composed this poi, but she finally married.
