Biographical / Historical
According to Hannah Nicholas this was the last poi performed at Parihaka. Pare Pirihaku says the song was composed as an affirmation of the truth of the bible after the return of the prisners from Otago. Jim Nicholas says the name of this song is 'Te Whakamā', referring to the embarrassment of the foreigners for what they did to the Māori people in the past.
