Biographical / Historical
In the olden times there were two brave warriors. They belonged to different tribes. One warrior was named Toto‘e, and the other Te Ani. Te Ani belonged to Tongaiti family and Toto‘e to the Tane family. There was an old man called Taumare who knew all sorts of ways of fighting. Toto‘e learned all the old man’s fighting skills and Te Ani also. When they grew up they had to fight against each other. Then Te Ani sang the Pe‘e, asking Toto‘e where he learned his fighting. Then Toto‘e answered Taumare. After this there was peace between them.
