Biographical / Historical

Mauāhu, son of Te Wharerangi was the father of the composer. These love songs were all composed by Te Maari for Te Heuheu Tūkino after the death of her husband and his wife. The singer learned them from Te Maari herself about forty years before recording them in 1962.
