Biographical / Historical
Farewell songs for Māori prisoners taken to Otago. The performer states that they were composed at Pungarehu in the year 1880 by "the people of Parihaka". Meri Puata began to do canoe actions while listening to a later replay of this pao and states that it is a poi. Wati Erueti has also stated that this song was done with actions.
