Biographical / Historical

A song sung throughout the North Island. Possibly the composer was from Ngāti Porou, because of the dialect of the East Coast, and because it was first heard in that area about 1890-1900. This is a friendly song and is generally sung by hosts to guests as a gesture of goodwill.
