Biographical / Historical

According to the singer this song is also sung by Ema Otene of Ratana Pa who is a grand-daughter of Wharaurangi and is very proud of the song. This item gives the sotry of the naming of the rivers from Whanganui to Wellington by the related ancestor, Hau, who came on the Kurahaupō waka and migrated to the Aotea district.
