Biographical / Historical
Following text was dictated by the performer after recording: The composer from 'round the lake' fell in love with Paukura, a man from Tongariro (Ngāti Hikairo). Her people would not let her marry him. When her child was born she composed this song. The man was a tupuna of the performer.
