Scope and Contents
Stories and accounts of Niuatoputapu, told by various speakers in conversation with Thomas Riddle. Recorded in Niuatoputapu, Tonga, in September 1977.
Contents:
1. Hafoka concludes from tape 8.
2. Tahi, an old woman in Hihifo, tells what she knows about popular Niua folk tales - Seketo'a, Kivikivi, and Fuimaono. Then she and her daughter, Vai, comment about present-day life in Niuatoputapu.
3. Sete Selui tells the story of Seketo'a. Sete Selui is the most imaginative of the Niua speakers and he uses his imagination well to greatly expand the story of Seketo'a.
4. Final comments by Tomasi in Tongan.
