Biographical / Historical

The composer of the first item was the grandfather of Mōnehu, the composer of the following haka poi. This item was performe dby him on the spur of the moment to express his delight with the poi.

The composer of the haka poi was a poi leader when the singer was young and when King George visited Rotorua in 1901.
