Biographical / Historical

The performer describes this item as a harihari. He says the composer and a number of others were trapped on rocks, besieged by the enemy who were waiting for the tide to go out before crossing to the island. The composer sang this song, capering around to distract the enemy while his people made a flax rope and escaped one by one to shore across the rope.
