Biographical / Historical
The singer explains that several maemae may be sung together in performance. These two are often added to "Kauwhata Raukawa". The item may be done at a tangi while the body is present, the dead person being addressed in the song, "Why have you died?". The item may also be performed for fun, to start a speech or to finish one as an introduction to a haka. The singer performed with vigerous actions and pūkana
