Biographical / Historical

Prayer before food, recited at the first wedding on the island. Avatea wanted his son Tangaroa to marry Ataka, and the prayer was recited at their marriage. Ataka evidently, however, transferred her affections to Tangaroa's brother Rongo, and it was from this union that the pedigree proceeds.
