Biographical / Historical
Performed in recited style as a karakia. Described in the Journal of the Polynesian Society as a Taranaka waiata tapatapahau, kō rākau, a song used in planting the kūmara with the kō or in former times the kāheru. According to the JPS it was sung by a large number of people.
