Scope and Contents

Comprises 32 tracks originally recorded on wax cylinder in German Samoa (present-day Samoa) in 1911. The recordings were made by Alfred Theodor Leber, and copied onto open reel tape by Richard Moyle. The original cylinders and documentation are in the Archiv für Musikwissenschaft, Berlin.

Biographical / Historical

Alfred Theodor Leber (1881–1954) was a German ophthalmologist and member of a scientific expedition to German Samoa where he worked as a private lecturer.
