William David Lusty (1869-1951) was a journalist and a sub-editor at the The New Zealand Herald.

Born and raised in Nelson, Lusty was the eldest son of Francis and Ann Lusty and his career as a journalist working at the Nelson Evening Mail. Lusty moved to Auckland in the early 1900s to take up a position with the The New Zealand Herald. For many years he was the newspaper's representative on the Parliamentary Press Gallery, Wellington.

Lusty married Mary (Nina) Walsh in 1895, the couple had three children. Lusty he died in Auckland 1951 aged 82 years.
