Scope and Contents

Collection contains subject files created by committee members, newspaper clippings, correspondence with the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, documents relating to East Timor released under of the Official Information Act and international weekly news coverage of East Timor.

Abstract:

This collection consists of minutes, financial records, a large compilation of correspondence, media releases, collections of newspaper clippings and newsletters from other organisations with relevance to East Timor, as well as books, videos and audio cassettes used by ETIC Auckland for its publicity and educational endeavours. Virtually no records or correspondence have survived from the pre-1982 period, and some email correspondence has also been lost, especially from the late 1990s.

Scope and Contents Collection contains Maire Leadbeater's personal papers relating to her political activism over five decades, notably the nuclear-free New Zealand and Pacific movement, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, East Timor Independence Committee and Indonesia Human Rights Committee, amongst others.
